Spanish Harlem Incident/ Play Along
did you say at the end of this video that anyone can “chime in”??
Great tone.
Very cool, Gary!
Ok, I get the intro, but how in the heck do you play the rhythm or body of the song with a thumbpick?
I learned this from his. Dvd ...😂
Certainly, one of my all-time favorite songs. I love that chimey sound. I played "hack" guitar when I was younger. Now retired, I really gotta learn how to do that picking style... just so beautiful. Thanks for this.
Thank you very much for the time and effort you made to put out this video. It sounds great!
nice rick
Gorgeous
The unique thing about tuning a Rickenbacker 12-string @05:20 The high E and B are not an octave up, but tune to the same note. Low E A D and G are an octave up. I think the G string is wound. The G and D octave strings are plain (not wound). Helps with the Jangly Ricky sound. Rickenbacker makes their own strings. I think 10-46 are the best sizes. #PickoftheRick is a good advice source on all things Rickenbacker. But they might have closed their doors in March 2020..
It s true those girls DO tear you apart
Love your interpretation..Roger improvised a lot..esp live..and this piece will live on ..as will ANY signature tune..one HELL of a 12 stringer..as are you sir
I just enjoy watching you play these classics. Thank you!
Looks good, I have a 6 string in Georgia Green and I hate the strap 'locks' many many gretsch players and myself find the stud unscrews out of the wood instead of the nut unscrewing off the stud, most annoying otherwise mines a nice guitar a tad downscale from that one with the pickups and hardware. Thanks for the review.
Totally incredible! Thank you for being a master of the 12-string and sharing your awesome talent.
Brilliant! Thank you so much for sharing your incredible talent. You make 12-strings come alive in your hands.
Do you have a video or specific tips on intonating a 12-string with a 6-saddle bridge?
Awesome!!!!! Thank you for sharing!
You are getting a brilliant tone here, I am jealous. I love this song, and especially your treatment of it.
Such a divine sound
Great job Gary. Thanks Brad
Wow, great job on your 12 string.
What size socket did you use?
Gary you hid the one chord we needed to see the diminished sounding one end of solo part…!
The sound of the 60s right there my friend!
What a heavenly sound !!!! So Ric !!!
You missed the scale climb at 4:45
Hey Gary! Fellow, "McGuinn-picker" here and I just wanted to say you're an absolute Guru. You're passion for this kind of guitar playing is so infectious and it's damned important in regard to keeping the, "electric folk" tradition alive because I tell you what pal-- there's going to be a hell of a lot of kids in the future that get into that music from the 60's and they will want to know the vital craft. The service you'll do to all the would-be 15 year old Johnny Marrs of the world might not be calculable. Thank you for this phenomenal body of work man.
magic 🎉
Great songs. What amp do you use with your RB?
Fender Deluxe Reverb
Sounds great!
This was awesome! Thank you for posting!
I play out lot with my Rick 360. I have the 12 saddle bridge. Toaster pickups and the old school sheet metal tail piece on my 2012. I switched to Pyramid flat wounds which stay in tune better than any other string I have used.
Ok I'm gonna try them strings a try. How many days them last because I play 4 hours to day. How many them last cause I'm 14 from pemba and have much no money to buy.
Great lesson. Gotta learn to do that on my 1993 plus
Beautiful guitars - nice playing.I couldn't really tell much difference between them but both sounded lovely.
What's better the 45th or 50th version
They both sound great. The one has more features that I really didn't use. You can't go wrong with either one. I just use the 50th now.
Do you have the thin string on top or bottom when you string up your Rick?
Thin string is on the bottom
Awesome!!!
Great to see you still pickin! Was getting a little worried there. Sounds great.
What song features the one at 1:34?
Amanda. Chimes of Freedom.
Great stuff Gary!
Cough and blah blah !!!! Do the song man !!!!
Cough and Blah blah. If you can do better then do it!!! Or better yet don't watch it. This is the reason why people don't post.
Do you tune your 12 to 440 Jake? I mean leave it tuned up to 440 all the time.
Yes I keep all my Rick's tuned to standard 440 pitch all the time.
@@MrGarywjacobBe careful of the exploding R tailpiece that Ricky 12's are famous for 😪
Gary, if I,m not mistaking, this sounds like ''It ain,t me'' by ''The Turtles ''
You do the best Byrd's tutorials of anyone on UA-cam! You made a subscriber out of me!
This was the perfect song for Roger, his vocals matched his playing.
Where can i buy these special capo?
Johnny go to there website.
On my 1965 360/12 I tune the low E and low A strings slightly flat so that it's in tune at the third fret. This seems to temper the guitar a bit better. The rest of the strings are fine to tune in the ordinary way. Of course, you should have a12 saddle bridge. You can't intone it with 6 saddle bridge. Also, just some advice for those new to a 12 sting: Don't go crazy trying to get it "right". It'll always be a little out and like all guitars, it's goin to go out after you start playing it, anyway. It's alright as long as it doesn't sound sour. That slight rubbing of frequencies gives the guitar its special sound. Don't sweat it. Use flatwounds for the thicker strings. A .009 or .010 gauge set is just fine. I have even gone to a .008 gauge set and that works fine, too. For electrics, thinner strings sound better. Use your guitar to play music, thinking about the music most and the guitar least. My two pence, anyway.
Gretsch should hire you. Great demo.
Left hand please
